-ABOUT
The 12-18 month programme enables a small number of selected newly qualified speech and language therapists to gain a breadth of clinical experience across the mainstream primary, secondary and special school settings.
During this challenging period therapists will consolidate and build upon their clinical placement and academic modules in the following areas:
Formal & Informal Assessment
Profiling Communication Needs
Goal setting
Forming Intervention Plans
Management
Working with other professionals e.g. Educational Psychologists & Teachers
Report Writing
-SUPERVISION
Therapists are be provided with weekly supervision for the the first three months and then once per month thereafter. There is also opportunity to attend peer supervision meeting to discuss specific therapy techniques & caseload management.
-NQP FRAMEWORK
Graduate speech therapists enter onto a structured pathway to enable sufficient time to transition smoothly through the Newly Qualified Framework to gain certified RCSLT status.
-CPD
Opportunity is provided for external CPD courses, which are relevant and beneficial to the client groups they work with. Therapists are also actively encouraged to join and attend Special Interest Groups form a project and write articles.
